Among Europe’s most celebrated snowboarding resorts, Val d’Isre sports 356 KM of skiing pistes. The season commences in early November and finishes in the beginning of May. The high altitude resort caters everything for you. The resort unfolds down the vale from La Daille up to Le Fornet with the buzzing centre in Val d’Isere. This bunch of inviting chalets contain chic boutiques most of which have appeared since the town was voted for the winter olympics.

Split into three different parts Val d’Isre has lots of slopes for all skiers and is great for luxury ski holidays. With a fab snow record, the resort is enormously fashionable among advanced skiers and piste hungry intermediates, on the other hand you don’t have to be particularly advanced to enjoy what is there. It’s easy to why numerous Brits are drawn to the village, with its exciting night-life and the range of entertainment on offer, moreover the proximity of Tignes permits you to head out to quieter climes if it all gets all too much.

Pros

A good apres ski in the Alps. Everyone talks English. Comfortable entrance to both Val d’Isre and Tignes known collectively as the the Espace Killy skiing area. There is lots of cars and while there are frequent buses during the day, dedicated apres skiers had better aim to be within a short walking distance from the centre.

Cons

Costly. Busy and very popular with English holiday makers, and so not for holiday makers looking for a typical French ski resort to savour a relaxing skiing holiday. Several ski lifts can close in bad weather conditions. Several difficult blue and green trails.
