Jeff Clarke: CEO of Travelport

Jeff Clarke, the man who now leads Travelport, has an extensive corporate background. In 1985, he began working for Digital Equipment Corporation, and then moved to Compaq when that company purchased Digital in 1998. In 2001, Compaq made Jeff Clarke their chief financial officer (CFO). As executive vice president of global operations for Hewlett Packard, Jeff Clarke oversaw the $19 billion merger between Compaq and Hewlett Packard. In April of 2004, Jeff Clarke became the chief operation officer for CA.

In 2006, Jeff Clarke became the CEO and president of Cendant’s travel services. The company was then renamed Travelport in August of that year after Cendant sold its travel network to the Blackstone Group. The deal was reported to come to a $4.3 billion.

Jeff Clarke, the CEO of Travelport, immediately set to transforming the company. Jeff Clarke formed the company around three brands and then oversaw the acquisition of Worldspan. Jeff Clarke also coordinated the sale of Orbitz Worldwide, and eventually became the chairman of Orbitz.

In addition to leading Travelport, Jeff Clarke is a member of the UTStarcom board of directors, the executive committee of the World Travel and Tourism Council the executive board of the Transatlantic Business Dialogue. In January 2007, <>Business Travel News listed Jeff Clarke as one of the 25 most influential executives for 2006.
